DSP at National Bike To Work Day
On November 29, 2023, the Department of Health (DOH) spearheaded the National Bike To Work Day in recognition of the Filipino cyclist-workers who take to the streets to earn a living.
Led by Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, DOH officials, members of the Interagency Technical Working Group for Active Transport, bike enthusiasts, and representatives from over 27 medical groups and societies rode their bikes together from Centris Walk in Quezon City to the Lung Center of the Philippines.
The Dementia Society of the Philippines joined in on the event and was represented by the head of Kintsugi-Psy Mr. Luis Angelo Roque Villarroel and the Internal Public Relations Office of the DSP Dr. Jardine Sta. Ana. This initiative was aimed at promoting alternative and eco-friendly transportation. It urges commuters to trade their usual motorized vehicles for bicycles on their way to work.
According to DOH Secretary Herbosa, this is the first time that the National Bike To Work Day has been commemorated. He added that the DOH will cooperate with other agencies in promoting safer and bike-friendly roads for every Filipino commuter.
