Ginintuang Alaala Memory Lane Project
The “Ginintuang Alaala” is a project aimed at helping promote good quality life among the elderly. Inspired by the “Memory Lane” activity in Australia, the project was held for the first time on 4 September 2016 at the Torre Venezia Suites, in partnership with Hi-Esai Philippines.
The event had more than 60 participants, consisting of senior citizens, Persons with Dementia, their family and caregivers, members of DSP and Hi-Eisai Philippines. Amidst a ‘60s theme background, the participants were treated to a few hours of games, songs, dancing, short films and socialization activities.
To inspire fellow caregivers in the audience, testimonies were shared by well known personalities who have been caregivers to their loved ones with Dementia: Dr. Michael Tan, Medical Anthropologist and present Chancellor of UP Diliman, his son Joaquin Tan, and Risa Narvasa Batungbacal, daughter of former Chief Justice Andres Narvasa.
With the success of this pilot event, this project has been targeted to be held twice a year in different parts of the Philippines.
