DSP at the 18th International Congress of the Asian Society Against Dementia
True to its commitment to being one with the rest of the Asia-Pacific region in its fight against dementia, the Dementia Society of the Philippines headed by our president, Dr. D. Darwin Dasig, and several members comprising the Philippine delegates, attended this year’s International Congress held at the Spice Convention Center, Penang Malaysia from August 15 – 17,2024.
Among the highlights of this event are the participation of two of our dementia fellows in the research poster presentation (Dr. Melmar Folloso and Dr. Paul Gonzales), Dr. Jacqueline Dominguez and Dr. D. Darwin A Dasig moderated several sessions in the program, and the presentation of the results of the FINOMAIN study in the Non Pharmacological Management of Dementia Session by Dr Anne Cristine Guevarra. Several collaborative meetings and fellowship gatherings were also attended by the Philippine delegates including DSP officers and members (Dr. Encarnita Ampil, Dr. Ma. Lourdes Corrales-Joson, Dr. Maurice L. Sanosa, Dr. Alvin Rae F. Cenina, and Mrs. Ma. Solinda G. Bautista).
Topics ranging from epidemiology, biomarkers, technological advancements in diagnosis and management to updates regarding recent developments in pharmacological treatment of dementia were given emphasis in this recently held conference.
As we look forward to next year’s congress which will be held at Seoul, South Korea in May 2025, we are also anticipating the return of ASAD in our country in as we host the 20th ASAD Congress in 2026.
